Not
many people know that Kato, the hilarious karate practicing manservant
to the bumbling detective Inspector Clouseau, was born a Manc! Burt
Kwouk, who played the hilarious martial art teacher was born on
18th July 1930 in Manchester before departing for Shanghai at the
age of one, and eventual international fame via his films with Peter
Sellars, a couple of James Bond films and numerous other TV and
Film credits.
He appeared in all six of the Pink
Panther series, the last two films being shot after Sellars’
death: - A Shot In The Dark (1964); The Pink Panther Strikes Again
(1976); Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978); Trail of the Pink Panther
(1982); Curse of the Pink Panther (1983); Son of the Pink Panther
(1993).
